photoblog image The Galleria

The Galleria

I've always wanted to take a photo of the heritage "Merchant's Bank" building, in the galleria at Brookfield Place (formerly BCE Place).  Until my most recent trip I've never been able to get far enough away from it to capture both it and the galleria -- perhaps the most beautiful conteporary interior "lobbies" on the continent. The galleria connects the two towers (which from outside I find quite -- very! - ugly), a shopping concourse, and the heritage properties on the site.

This was perhaps the third or fourth photo I snapped with my new 7-14mm Olympus Digital Zuiko and I'm really pleased with it! I'll have to sneak back at dusk with a tripod (they don't like tripods there) to get this photo with the galleria all lighted.

Quite like the effect created by the ultra wide zooms, http://lightningpaul.shutterchance.com/ does some quite striking work with his as well
Iain Myrans: Thanks Zed. I checked out the photo over at Lightingpaul's blog as well. It's a great shot. Thanks for the link and the comment.
Very good angle! Very nice architect compo!
It's all about the angles in this stunning shot. Great work, Iain.
Great ultra wide angle shot! This white construct really looks fantastic! Perhaps a few shots pointing your camera upwards and only capturing the white frame will yield fantastic images.
About tripod, perhaps ask first permission, it might help.
Iain Myrans: I'll certainly try this paul. Good idea!
nice! is their curving in the building or is it in the photo( dumb question maybe, but love the effect!
Iain Myrans: There's an equal slope on each side in actual fact, with a curved rooftop.

Great shot! Should we set up some sort of guerilla photography diversionary tactic some evening soon?
Iain Myrans: sneaky sneaky -- I'm guessing the asking technique is worth a shot first -- if not lets do it. wink
