photoblog image Rue Monge

Rue Monge

Rue Monge is one of Haussmann's many avenues that were carved through Paris, running south from the river and Notre Dame Cathedral.

The two Citroen 2CV's caught my attention while I was looking through the view finder trying to compose this shot. It was one of those "wing the exposure -- the moment is now" moments. I'm pretty happy with how it came out, although I'd have liked to have closed the aperture down a little more. Fortunatley I was shooting on a four thirds camera so I was provided with lots of depth of field.

I really love this shot and your perspective. It brings back lots of memories of my stay in Paris. I've walked this avenue many times. It never changes. The two cars are Citroen 2CV's, the car that moto-vated France and replaced the horse for farmers. Great to deliver chickens and produce to the local market, but not very safe to drive around the busy streets of Paris.
Iain Myrans: Thanks for the info about the cars (I've updated the description). Thanks also for dropping in a comment.

It's an amazing snapshot of life in the city. I noticed there are almost only white cars here smile
