photoblog image The Lunch Spot

The Lunch Spot

Taken from the top of a building at Adelaide and Spadina at lunchtime last Friday.  It is a shame that it was so hazy/smoggy though, otherwise it would have made for a really magnificent shot. I tried to make it a bit less brown but it turned blue! It's the best I could do with my intermediate level photoshop skills!

This is also an HDR photo I should mention, made in Photomatix from 5 1-stop differnece exposures.

I'm just not proficient enough to handle the intricacies of HDR, and so I applaud your efforts,

This is a wondeful snapshot of city life, as it really is, warts and all (cranes).

Superbly detailed

I actually like the blue-cast. It reinforces that smog is a reality living in Toronto but, together with HDR, still gives the image a foreign quality. The ad in the left-third of the image detracts from an otherwise fascinating shot. I think you could crop part of it out, making the shot more square, but still keeping Spadina and Queen's Quay as the left-third focal point, and end up with a great print.
