photoblog image Sunset at the Pointe

Sunset at the Pointe

This is a repost of a photo I uploaded about a year and a half ago but I've gone back and re-post processed it. The other one had too much of a blue-cast for my liking.

This is Pointe Au Baril lighthouse on Georgian Bay (for those not in Canada that is the northern portion of the Great Lake Huron. I think one of my favourite things about this shot was the sillouetted people up to the right side of the boathouse by the old anchor. In the distance, just to the left of the sun, is a small pole with a black barrel on top. Before the lighthouse was built the barrel was set alight at night to guide boats back into the channel leading through the maze of shoals and islands to the mainland.

They're right, it is a beautiful picture, and there's actually a lot more too it than just the sunset, it's something that could capture my attention for quite some time.
