This is a rehabilitated (or partially rehabilitated) part of a very large quarry in Milton Ontario. After trekking the Bruce Trail with some colleagues on the weekend we found our way out to this site for lunch and some photos. At one time this was an active part of the much larger (and still active) quarry site. This area has been in a rehabilitation phase for some time. The cliff walls are higher than they appear in this photo and the area was quiet and really very lovely. When the leaves are out on the trees it should be quite beautiful.
See a map of the whole quarry site and how this part is really quite small by clicking 'here'.

Quarry "rehabilitation" will probably take generations, but it's good to see Nature working to take a piece of itself back.
I bet the sumachs are pretty in the fall too.
