photoblog image On the Shores of Bronte

On the Shores of Bronte

A candid photo of my sister, taken in Bronte (Ontario) on the shoreline of Lake Ontario. My sister (in photo) and I were out visiting family for the day and decided to wander down to the lakeshore as the sun was starting to set. While enjoying the warm lighting conditions, I was able to capture a few nice photos.

Lovely clear image Iain, as we've come to expect from you.

This image gives me an insight into the great lakes too, as I had no conception of what it might be like near them. It looks delightful in the late afternoon sun.

Unfortunately, despite considering the lakes for this year's vacation, our little band of intrepid oldies (well, 50 somethings) opted finally for Vancouver in June. Don't know anything about that area do you?
Iain Myrans: Hi Colin,

Lake Ontario is a very urban lake and not what we would often think of as somewhere to go for vacation. Having said that there are some lovely rural communities along lake ontario and some nice provincial parks (out Prince Edward County Way, etc -- that's a plug for my friend Megan who lives out there

You should also go into my archive and take a look at two other categories of photos: "Northern Ontario" which depicts the shores of Georgian Bay (Lake Huron); and, "Trent Severn Waterway" which is a waterway that passes through some of the upper Muskoka lakes (the small inland lakes).

Hopefully you'll enjoy those smile

I've not been to Vancouver since early high-school and I do not remember it well. My cousin lives out there and really likes it though! I'm sure you'll enjoy your trip. smile
Very nice composition; Great lighting and colours here!

Thanks for pointing out the difference between "your" Lake Ontario and "my" Lake Ontario. The Eastern part of the north shore is far less urban, and has charms all its own. Not that I don't appreciate the urban parts.

Love how your sister's hair has a red glow in the warm, oblique rays of the sun.
