photoblog image Down the Alley

Down the Alley

Down the Alley was taken in a small laneway just north of Queen Street in Toronto yesterday. Sometimes I really enjoy taking these urban-decline / abandonment style shots. They give you the opportunity to play with colour and contrast in a way that you can't get away with in regular architecture and landscape style photos. This was taken on my 2-day old Olympus E-3 which I am more than impressed by. It is an incredible camera and I've never seen images come off any camera with the kind of colour accuracy and sharpness as the E-3 gives. Anyone in the market for a high-end camera should certainly check it out (there, that's my one and only plug!).

nice! in a small dimension of pixels you've gathered many things! well done
Iain Myrans: Thanks a lot. Yes, I suppose you're right, at first glance it all looks much the same -- run down alleyway 'stuff' but there is a lot of stuff. Colours, doors, bars, wires, fire escape. I guess that must be what caught my eye but without realizing it smile Thanks for the comment.

Just couldn't resist the new camera, huh? I hope it brings you much joy. The busy-ness of the alley really gives a sense of the other life that goes on behind the scenes in the city.
