Plowing West Queen West

Toronto had a bit of a snow storm yesterday, I wouldn't say it's even close to the biggest we've ever seen -- actually it was really quite light but one of the few we've had this winter. Toronto has, oddly, had almost no snow this winter. It has been very cold but snow has been scarce. My boss suggested that I, and some of my colleagues, head out of work a bit early to find out way home so I pulled out my camera while there was still some light and started shooting some photos.

The City of Toronto had its fleet of salters and plows out all day and night clearing the streets and then trying to keep them clear. I just liked the clours under the cloudy skies in this one. Happy winter!

That was my town this morning. I love the snow, but not once it's dirtied with cars and fumes. Great activity and energy in this shot.

This is how I remember Michigan as a child, Iain, with snowplows running up and down the streets, clearing away the dirty snow. But I also remember BIG winters full of snowbanks higher than the cars. I have a feeling you remember those as well! I love this time of the day as the lights come on and the snow adds light to the streets.

I like the way you've got down low to take this Iain, makes the picture more powerful.

Random note: They make those Volvo graders in Goderich, an hour and a half up the road from me.
