The Malting Co.

This is an HDR image that I put together last summer using Photomatix. While it may look old and a bit run down, I love this beautiful old industrial building -- one of the last on the Toronto waterfront. Recently there has been talk about tearing it down becuase it has become condemned and parts of it are quite dangerous. The costs to restore the building are huge and as of yet all attempts to do so have failed. Personally, I think this building is a beautiful bookend to the central waterfront and I hope the City does all it can to find a way to keep it.

It's a nice view and info into old and neglected building which, to the casual viewer still looks interesting.

not sure about the HDR, but this is a fabulous scene of a what looks like a fascinating building,great capture Iainsmile
It's really a shame they didn't put the money into restoring it and doing something with it ages ago, instead they stuck a park behind it, totaly out of the way... Just think of what they'll have to do to the park if they tear the Malting Co. down. I'm curious about the other bookend out west. The Malting Co. gets all the attention, but that other one is totaly ignored. Any idea what's happening with that one?

Is this the same building you shared the information about last year?

It is wonderful, I hope they manage to save most of it, if not all.

I love this building! Looks as good in the daylight as it did in that night shot. Shall we chain ourselves to it to prevent them from tearing it down? What a shame that would be for the heritage of the waterfront.

I like the HDR effect myself, but I'm no photographer, so what do I know? wink

Thanks for another great reminder of T.O. architecture/heritage.
