Butterfly

I took this while wandering the Beach for waterfront trail photos on a project I was doing for Joe Berridge of Urban Strategies. I was amazed at how well my 50-200mm telephoto performed! I rarely post macros and never of insects but I thought this was pretty cool.

Very thoughtful of the butterfly to land on that gray thing for maximum contrast. This is a very pretty capture and well worth posting.
Iain Myrans: Hey Martin. I hadn't thought of that! You are so right, the grey is perfect!
yes well worth posting, as Martin says the contrast between butterfly and background is super, great photosmile.....tim

Love Martins comment!! Perfect clarity - well captured.
Iain Myrans: Thanks Gale. This lens is considered to have both wonderful colour and constrast and with the unexpected grey-card in the shot that really shows. With the exeption of the composition I'm going to, again, have to put the rest of the credit down to my favourite lens (Zuiko Digital 50-200 f2.8) and camera (Olympus E-330, the best deal on Amazon.com right now and one of the most underrated cameras on the market!)
you are rght this is pretty cool!!

Beautiful. You should post more insects. They're excellent models.
Iain Myrans: Lol. You just want me to stop using you as a model Megs! (I do hope this 'meegz' is in fact the one I know!). I took this when you went inside for a moment and I was waiting wandering in circles with my camera so you get credit for my noticing this one.
Cool is not the word - this is just gorgeous! Great contrast between the brilliantly coloured and fragile butterfly, and the solid, imoveable concrete. Stunning detail, too. (:o)

I think it's pretty cool too, actually I think it's very good. Excellent detail, and handy it landed on something grey.
