At the Foot Swift Rapids Lock

Photos from the Trent Severn:
I had the opportunity to travel through the Trent Severn from Georgian Bay to Lake Simcoe at the end of September this year.  It is quite an experience and I highly recommend it as a fun and relaxing way to spend a few days if you're living in Ontario. More information on the historic waterway and canal system can be found here. The waterway is so "magnificent it has been named 'one of the finest interconnected systems of navigation in the world'.

About this photo:
After spending a night at the food of the lock at Swift Rapids (shown) we eagerly awaited the first draining of the lock so that we could continue our trip upstream. As the massive doors open the early morning sun shines brightly through illuminating many of the fall leafs that have fallen into the lake. Tomorrow: this lock from above with the doors closed and it fully filled.

I love the bright blue of the doors, and the shaft of light that is coming through them as they are opening. Fantastic. smile
Iain Myrans: Thanks! I actually sold a big print of this one smile
