photoblog image Spring!

Spring!

I'm not totally sure what's going on in this shot. Originally I had wanted to catch this guy (in the grey touqe second from the left) who was standing on Yonge Street handing out flowers to people with his big 'Spring' sign. I go to put my telephoto on and I turn around and a news crew has shown up with drinks and cameras! (that shop dine tour bus randomly showed up too but independently i believe). I guess I wasn't the only one who found this amusing. It was a mild day and lots of snow melted but as you can see here there's still lots to go.

I still find it an amusing shot and more than anything I was amazed at the dynamic range in my E-330! There is a huge difference in brighness between the shadow and the sunlight. This is straight-out-of-camera! No tweaks/post at all. Olympus kicks butt when there is lots of light. Yes the snow is blown out a bit but in fairness I had the exposure bias at +.3  since snow reflects so much light it usually tricks the camera into under-exposing pictures.

Fun picture! I like the way you decided to leave in all its disparate elements. Very lifelike, eh?

Spring? You're meant to have flowers in the spring, not snow!

But, what a fascinating picture, there's such a lot to see and with such vibrant colours too.

That lens looks as if it's doing a truly wonderful job wink Olympus are good cameras, aren't they. I'm sooo pleased I bought one.
