photoblog image Watch Your Step

Watch Your Step

This is less of an artistic shot and more just a 'wow, would ya' look at that' shot.

The Metropolis Centre under construction at Yonge and Dundas is designed to provide the north side of Dundas Square (out of the image to the right) with a hard, defined edge. I'm not sure how this will look when it's all done but right now it looks horrible! That's partly because that huge 'industrial' looking wall is nothing but billboard and video screen brackets at the moment and will eventually be filled with colour and light as the billboards get installed. When you look at it here though, that is A LOT of square footage for advertising. I personally like the doors that open to no where. I can see the sign on the other side of them: 'Watch your step' ,

Shot with a Hoya circular polarizer to give the blue sky a darker look.

PP: A little dodging of the streetcar, distortion fix.

Wow, would ya look at that! tongue I don't quite know what a Hoya circular polarizer is... but it works! Wouldn't the same effect be achieved with a gradient tool in Picasa or Photoshop?

What I like most in the shot is the geometric lines. Everything seems so full of ... lines!
Psst.... Isin't that building on the north side of Dundas Square? wink

I've been trying to figure out what the hell they are doing with that building too, I guess we'll just have to wait until it's finished and see what they slap on it.
Iain Myrans: south? I don't know what you're talking about wink
