Quantex Technologies Building

The Ultra-Wide Series - Day 1

This beautiful old building apperas to be the home of Quantex Technologies. It is located down at the entrance to the Toronto Port Lands. I shot this at 10mm on an ultra-wide canon lens on VV's camera while we were out one day. We each rented a lens and went out and got some nice shots. He loaned me a card to shoot with on his camera so I could try the ultra-wide.

hey sl,

i really like this shot a lot. i like the way it draws the viewer's eyes upward. how did you like shooting with the wide angle? it reminds me of one of my shots: http://www.pixelthis.shutterchance.com/photoblog/14000.htm

this is really cool Sparklite, love the light on the door, very good shot and well spotted
Sola Labinjo: Hey Sparky, thanks for the input. It's really appreciated. I agree with you that 14-45 isn't the sharpest lens around. I would have to work with it for now though. I really don't shoot on RAW that often, but I would try your technique and see how it goes.

PS: Dammie, is a friend of mine. She meant no harm and feels quite upset she had offended you. So please can you not keep a grudge against her as she is going to keep sending and leaving me messages about how sorry she is
In post processing if you had further darkened the area where these is a shadow, it might have looked more dramatic.
Iain Myrans: I didn't really do any post-processing. I cropped in a bit if that counts? And a very minor white balance tweak but that's it. I shot 3 exposures in camera and this was the nicest. You might be right abuot the 'more dramatic' though. smile
You stole my mapping idea, that i don't have time to do any more... tongue

It turned out cool, oddly enough, I have almost exactly the same shot from that day.. I wonder why that might be....

Excellent shot. Love the blue sky but you now me I'm a sucker for blue sky. Hope you had a good weekend. Haven't had much opportunity to comment lately. But I'm still around.

great capture. It does remind me of the shot Nicole talked about, but then again, this one is quite different with nice colours.

not to be morbid, but it reminds me of a mausoleum. smile
