photoblog image At the Flagpole

At the Flagpole

'Muskoka Chairs' atop the cliff at my cottage on Georgian Bay. The flagpole is a home-made one and flies the Province of Ontario flag. Sadly a cabin, just off to the right on the island in the distance, burst into flames on this trip due to a burst propane-gas line. :(

It doesn't quite look like a photo at all. Especially the flagpole, and the trees in the distance beyong the lake. To me it looks as if it were painted. Very interesting, nice work.
hey sl,

really great capture. i love the crispness of this shot. each object that i look it is increadibly detailed and crisp. i love the colors...very vivid. this must be a really relaxing place to escape to.
Iain Myrans: It is. It's so peaceful -- at nighttime it is rare to hear a sound and there is Zero light poloution so you can see every star in the galaxy. It's quite spectacular. Sadly I've only been up for abuot 7 days in total all year. It's very seasonal. By October we have to close the place down for the winter.

indeed, it looks like a painting (must be the chairs and the flag combination). great composition! maybe the cabin would have added to the shot... hope no one was injured during the fire.

Lucky, lucky you...this place looks beautiful.
Now... was this before or after the exploding cabin? What do you know about a dog named Rover?... did you see rover near the cabin before it exploded?... Was rover carrying a propane torch and a hacksaw? If you remember any more details, here's my card... call me... it might be important... we suspect that Rover is working for DEAD (Demolitions and Explosives Alliance of Doom), we must keep an eye out for these guys...

I love the way the light falls around the table and chairs.

Another good one. I really need to get myself a cabin on one of the great lakes. Zero light pollution? Sounds like my wifes grandmothers farm in Kentucky. I really gotta get out in the country soon.
