photoblog image A Colourful Sail

A Colourful Sail

I took this photo while out with a family friend and fellow photographer on the weekend that I was away. I've just returned back and I thought I should post something from the trip. There are more to come!

Thanks for your comments while i've been away. I'll review/reply and write some for other people soon! :)

PP: masked/cut out sail, boat, and crew. pasted it back atop the original image as a new layer. Desaturated original layer to provide and emphasis on the subject

you've got some heavy PP'ing going on here... it's worked wonderfully. It looks like a very serene place and the cloudy sky and choppy waters provide a very good contrast. well done! hope your vacation went by wonderfully smile

I think this shot would of worked better from another angle, maybe a lower angle actaully to give a clear distinction between boat and land...but the PP did work quite well
Iain Myrans: Hey Yeni. You are probably right but I was in a moving boat at the time so I'll have to make do smile Looking at it after I took it it would have been nice to get that shoal in (that is behind them) between the boat's hull and the sail. To shoot lower would have meant holding the camera below the gunwale of the boat I was on. Possible with the Evolt e-330 because of liveview I suppose.

Having said all that, I'm still happy with it smile

Great Shot. Thought it looked like a selective desaturation when I looked at it and then found out that that's exactly what it was. Looks like it was a fun weeekend. Love the clouds.
