photoblog image A Farewell: Stop Being So Darned Shy!

A Farewell: Stop Being So Darned Shy!

I don't normally post pictures of people -- in fact this is the second time. But I post this for two reasons. One, I love the colour and tones in it, and two, because it was taken on a whim during a going-away party for my friend who was leaving Canada (Mo, left). I grabbed my camera off the table and was going to take a candid of them but his girlfriend (Shaheen, right) pulled him in for a shot. I like the spontenaity of it.

Very little post work has been done and while I know it could use some I have not had the time. I wanted to share this as a post-farewell 'we're still thinkin' about you Mo' picture.

Taken in Fran's Restauraunt in downtown Toronto late one evening. I did have an external flash attached which was bounced off the celing.

Finally, I also post it because it is certainly a picture of TWO (rather than my threes that i've been getting so many comments on ;) )

Ah but see, even you failed to notice the THREE pieces of artwork on the wall in the background wink as well as the mirror divided into three segments. and the three distinct regions of the picture (the foreground people, the mid ground wall of the booth and the background wall with the artwork on it). There is also the fact that if the image is turned 90deg. cloclwise, the hair on the people in the photo makes a number 3..... need I go on? wink You can't escape your own rules! they are in your subconcious now, there is no escape, mwah ha ha ha ha!...

(okay, okay, a real comment will follow sometime later... maybe...)

BUT, VV forgot the most obvious example of "Sparklite's Trinity" in this photo. In order for Sparklite to take a photo of two he had to become the third point of the photographic triangle. It is time that we all move beyond the constraints of RULES. A wise man once said "Rules are made to be broken." Let us break free from the shackles that are imprisoning our creativity. Let us all take photos of fours, fives, sevens, elevens. VIVA LA REVOLUCION!!!!!!

Note to Sparklite: Take more photos of people, you're pretty good at it.

I like.... Maybe the background could be made less obvious by a bit of pp .... But what strikes me is that this guy is leaving, and the way the photo works he is slightly out of focus compared with her, and has a bit of an abent look on his face, like a little part of him had already gone. She is still "completely here" - he less so, so as a portait of an impending departure it works... Or am I reading too much into it?
