The View from Arlington

This is an old photo which I've just done some post on for the first time since I took it in the summer of 2004 on a trip to Washington D.C. to visit a friend of mine from University who was there for the summer. I've got a few D.C. pictures and I thought I'd share some with all of you and Matt (since he's in D.C. and always sharing his D.C. work with us). I'll try to share some more over the coming days on and off. I'm working a lot more than I was before these days so it's cut into my photogrpahy time for totally new material. It is giving me time to go through my hard drives looking for some older work that I never shared though. :)

In the distance you can see the Lincoln memorial (at the end of the road/bridge) and the washington monument. You can also see (although the resizing upon upload has killed the detail) the Jefferson Memorial and the Capitol.

There is a West Wing episode where Toby, Josh, and Donna got left behind accidentally on the campaign trail and at the end of the episode a bus drops them off on this side of the bridge. It's an amazing piece of cinematography. Anyway, whenever I see this photo I think of that episode.

Originally shot on 35mm film and scanned on a Nikon Coolscan V ED.

Fantastic Cityscape. You have Arlington Cemetary on the right hand side so you must be standing in front of the Iwo Jima Memorial. It's a great view from up there.
