Feel free to be critical. I liked the shot but I struggled with it a lot in photoshop since there was too much contrast originally. Shooting it at a different time of day would have helped but it is not a location I am able to get back to. Does anyone have some tips as to how it could have been post-processed better?

PP: Curves, overlays with diffusion and multiplied blending, hue and contrast, shadow detail, highlight detail, sharpness.

Hmmm.. I can see what you mean. I suspect some fill in flash would have been useful.. an accidental trick I've discovered is that sepia has a way of masking the contrast somewhat...
