photoblog image The Island Life

The Island Life

Pointe Au Baril, Ontario, Canada.

Sorry for not being around this past weekend to comment. We had our May 24 long weekend (Queen Victoria Day) here in Canada and I was up at the cottage getting it open for the season. I took this shot in a bit of haste. The subject of course are the trees in the foreground but I wanted to show in a DOF blur a sense of height from the waters of Georgian Bay below. The photo is level, it is just the terrain that's very uneven as well as island distances and channels that are not uniform accross the width of the image.  This was the only hour of sunlight we had all weekend I think! It was otherwise abuot 4C and cloudy/windy the whole time.

Post Processing (PP): Hue adjust to the Yellow channel to make spring leaves appear more green/summerish. Saturation boost to blues and cyans.

Rich colour. Great Dynamic range you got there. But I'm not sure what else to say. I'm sure you could have made it a bit more interesting.

Yes, it's some trees, perfectly exposed but not particularly artistically presented and there's a lot of distracting background.

For this type of shot, I find it helps me to imagine a picture I'd like to hang on a wall at home. Would you hang this in your home?
I like this simple, not much going on, but still you can keep loking at it. Good shot
